Musk, using his X account to hype his email to all federal employees via their respective HR departments, demanding five bullets on what they accomplished in the last week, is tantamount to having the employee sing for their supper. Musk is pursuing this aggressively, some might say, with a vengeance.
Then he continued to stir the pot with his X message to all of X which was answered by less than .05% of those who “follow” him – but the media picks up on it without adding this stat. And given that it’s his platform, with his algorithm, would you or should you believe the stats? It’s all projection.
Musk sows confusion
What he has done is create more unnecessary confusion, stress, and angst among the federal workforce. Each department head already has in place means by which to measure employee production, contributions, and impact. The wholesale, Draconian slicing of the workforce that has been taking place is not merit-based, is not programmatic, and is not designed to advance the most productive, impactful. No, its goal is to sow confusion – and Musk, under the banner of DOGE is doing just that.
Considering that he is not a part of any supervisory chain, it is appropriate to ignore him.
