Yesterday, 24 February, the United States took the incomprehensible step of refusing to call the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation for what it is and voting AGAINST the UN Resolution, choosing to vote with Russia and not with Ukraine. Unfathomable appeasement to the authoritarian and war criminal Putin by Trump.

The world knows who invaded Ukraine. Russia. The war can end at any time, all Russia needs to do is withdraw from the soverign territory of Ukraine.

A shameful day for the United States, when the United States locks arms with the totalitarian states – Russia, China, North Korea and attempting to marginalize the Russian aggression and invasion of Ukraine.

Difficult to understand UN Resolution

The United Nation’s put out a news release that attempts to explain the sequence of events and is worthy of a read, which they characterizes as:

Three years to the day since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the UN General Assembly adopted two competing resolutions on resolving the conflict on Monday, one initiated by the United States and the other by Ukraine – a sign of strategic differences within the transatlantic alliance over the way forward for peace.

The UN piece notes that “Rosemary DiCarlo, the head of UN Pekeeping and Political Affairs, briefed the 15 [Security] Council members on the current situation in Ukraine. She said that the Russian invasion “undermined the very foundations of the international order,” and reminded the delegates that, since 24 February 2022, at least 12,654 Ukrainian civilians, including 673 children, have been killed.ly against calling the illegal war and invasion of Ukraine by Russia.”

The vote, stark as stark can be with the United States joining Russia and voting AGAINST the resolution.

February 2023

It must be noted that a very similar resolution had the full-throated support of the United States in February 2023, when the UN General Assembly called for an immediate end to war in Ukraine following the illegal invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Indeed, the phrasology used was “the world is facing “stark choices about who we are as an international community. These choices will either set us on a path of solidarity and collective resolve to uphold the tenets of the UN Charter,” he said, “or a path of aggression, war, normalized violations of international law and collapsed global action.
